Spend a day at Wintergreen Studios and the neighbouring Hahn Forest Farm and learn about the many ways that the forest sustains us all. Presenters will include local farmers, foresters, and artists. In the morning, we will guide you through a modern maple syrup production facility, show you how mushrooms can be cultivated on old oak logs, and describe the various crops that can be cultivated in our forests and nearby meadows, including nuts, garlic, and honey. After a hearty chili lunch, you will learn about how an off-grid facility operates, and about other forest products, such as turned bowls from the forest trees. At the end of the afternoon, there will be opportunities for walks through the 200 acres of Wintergreen forests – with the leaves in their full fall splendour.
This workshop will be co-hosted by the Frontenac Stewardship Council, Forest Farms, and Wintergreen Studios. The workshop begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm. Download the PDF
