July 4 through August 26, 2010, every Thursday (4:30-6:00 pm) and Sunday (9:00-10:30 am)

Relax, stretch, open, and connect to nature by practicing Yoga at Wintergreen Studios!

These classes will emphasize body-mind centered awareness, breath-work, and alignment as Leah guides you through a series of gentle yet challenging poses suitable for all levels and abilities.

Classes will begin with a brief guided meditation to centre and calm the mind, and bring awareness to the breath and body. After establishing inward focus, students explore gentle movement as they are guided through a series of poses to stretch, strengthen and nurture the body. Classes may also include a brief introduction to the philosophical precepts upon which Yoga was founded. Each class will leave students with a sense of inner stillness, a reconnection with themselves, and a series of poses to practice at home.

Please be prepared to bring your own mat and reusable water bottle, and any props you may want to use, such as a block or strap.

About the Instructor

Leah Vine was first introduced to the practice of Yoga over a decade ago when she attended a class with Hali Schwartz in downtown Toronto. Although that first class had a profound influence on her, it took a few years for Leah to find her way back to the mat and truly deepen her understanding and love of the practice.

Since receiving her Yoga Alliance Approved Teacher Training at Tula Yoga Studio in Toronto, Leah has taught a variety of yoga classes including hot Vinyasa flow, Hatha Yoga for beginners, Prenatal Yoga, and Yoga for Baby and Mom. Leah has participated in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, as developed by Jon Kabbit-Zin, has sat a course at the Ontario Vipassana Meditation Centre, and continues to use the practice of meditation in her daily life and when teaching. Additionally, Leah has received training from the Yoga Sanctuary in Toronto, having attended workshops in prenatal Yoga, “The Art of Adjustment”, and “Detox Flow”. Leah has also taught yoga to students “at-risk” in alternative schools in downtown Toronto and Kingston, and hopes to continue to introduce the practice to youth. In December of 2009, Leah attended the Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts where she completed: “Advanced Skills for Class Design and Working with Special Populations”, the first module of the 500 hour advanced yoga teacher certification.

Leah has the belief that yoga can awaken a power that is already within you — a deep internal resource available and patiently waiting to be released and used in the service of learning, growing, and healing. She invites you to come to the mat to heal, learn, grow, and celebrate life!

Classes run for eight weeks, every Sunday and Thursday, beginning on July 4 and ending on August 26. Sunday classes run from 9:00-10:30 am. Thursday classes run from 4:30-6:00 pm.
