(Friday evening to Sunday afternoon)
Are you ready to emerge from winter hibernation? Indulge
yourself in two days of yoga, art, music, and nature while
celebrating the gifts of spring. Experience the
mind-body connection through yoga and art-making as
we engage in movement-based inquiry to release tension
in the body and to still the mind. Through an integrated
practice of yoga, designed to dismantle long held patterns
of tension while at the same time strengthening, stabilizing
and centering us, we will examine the assumptions we
hold about ourselves as artists and as people.
The workshop will begin on late Friday afternoon with
a yoga session suitable for all levels, followed by
dinner at the lodge. In the evening, we will embark
on the first art-making session as we start playfully exploring various media such as paint, copper, paper, and fabric.
On Saturday and Sunday, we will continue to cultivate
that grounded feeling of embodiment through yoga practice, then translate our inner sense
of self-knowing into the art-making that we started on Friday night. Using nature as our inspiration in
both in our yoga practice and art-making, we will reflect
on the bounty of our lives as we mark the end of our winter hibernation.
On Saturday evening, you will be treated to a concert by Canadian harpist Scott Hughes. Selections will include both classical music and folk songs arranged for solo harp.
No prior experience in yoga or art-making
is required to fully participate in this celebration
of the turning of the seasons. Just come with a sense
of adventure and enjoy the magic and unpredictable nature
of joining yoga and artistic expression.
