Wintergreen is a wilderness retreat centre in the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve in Southeastern Ontario. We offer educational programming in the arts and on the environment. We also provide retreat and meeting facilities for individuals and groups, such as families interested in a wilderness weekend retreat. Wintergreen also hosts weddings.
Guests at Wintergreen have access to a network of over a dozen trails for self-guided hikes through the 204-acre property. The land features mixed forests and meadows, granite outcroppings, ponds, marshes, and a glacier carved lake. It is home to a wide range of plant life and wildlife. Our simple and comfortable accommodations include private rooms, shared rooms, woodland cabins, and tenting for those who prefer to sleep under the stars.
We serve bountiful meals, featuring local and organic foods, much of which is grown in our own gardens. There are always vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options, and we also serve responsibly sourced fish, and local poultry, pork, goat, and beef.
Wintergreen Studios is a not-for-profit organization, incorporated in 2007. We are registered charity. The lodge was built in the summer and fall of 2008 and our first workshops were offered in the fall of 2008. In addition to our workshops and retreats, Wintergreen inspired the development of a community-based renewable energy initiative and is home to Wintergreen Studios Press.
