Join us for a day or better yet, for the entire weekend! The weekend will feature interactive and highly immersive djembe drumming sessions with Kevin Fell, Program Director of HOZA!, accompanied by time spent outdoors, snowshoeing or winter hiking (depending on the weather). One way or another we’ll take in the beauty of the Wintergreen trails and get our bodies moving!
HOZA! Creative Mediation is an awarding winning performing-arts company that performs at corporate and community events, and in schools to over 35000 students each year. “Hoza” is an African word that they take to mean STOP, START or CHANGE. and their mission is to help put a STOP to negative thinking and behaviors, and facilitate CHANGE that is needed to START living in a more socially just world.

Kevin is a passionate advocate of social justice and a highly experienced artist-educator. His programs are tools for personal and societal growth. Kevin began his career in South Africa, a graduate from Rhodes University and since then he has worked with numerous Schools, School Boards, N.G.O’s, Theatre Companies and Corporations to help them facilitate learning; personal or professional growth, through the process of Creative Mediation.
In Taiwan, Kevin’s work in education was awarded a certificate of excellence by the Ministry of Education, the only foreigner to ever receive such an award.
In Canada Kevin Fell, founded HOZA! Creative Mediation and has worked with thousands of students and educators while facilitating HOZA! workshops in Africa, Asia, and Canada. The company has developed or presented educational programs for clients including: Investor’s Group, TD Bank, The Toronto Public Library, The Royal Ontario Museum, Roy Thomson Hall, The Harbourfront Centre, The Nelsons Mandela Children’s Fund (Canada), The City of Toronto, The School of Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre, Free the Children as well as EVERY School board in the GTA.
In 2011 Kevin was awarded an Exemplary Practice in Education Award by the Toronto Catholic District School Board for his international literacy program, Getting to Know You, which paired learners in Ontario with learners in the Western Cape, South Africa.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in Canada, A Bachelor of Arts, and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Educational Drama Theatre and Psychology. Kevin is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, and more recently an alumni of the Social Innovation Residency: Getting to Maybe at the Banff Centre for Creativity and Learning. Kevin is frequently engaged as a personal and professional development consultant and sits on the Board of Directors for The Mankind Project, Ontario.
Come for a day or for the full weekend. Each day will feature both djembe drumming and winter walks, but the program will vary so that if you choose to come for the full weekend, each day will be unique. Get ready for a soul shakedown!
Saturday OR Sunday: $85 + HST per person includes djembe drumming, winter hiking, lunch and snacks.
Full weekend: $250 + HST per person includes two days of drumming and hiking, shared overnight accommodation, lunch, dinner, and snacks on Saturday, and breakfast, lunch, and snacks on Sunday. Private room extra. Discount for couples.
