Music brings a warm glow to my vision, thawing mind and muscle from their endless wintering.
– Haruki Murakami
And a warm glow, indeed, will be present at Wintergreen as we first savour a winter meal together, followed by the soulful strings of Triola. It’s been a few years since they’ve performed at Wintergreen, and we’ve missed them!
For those of you who may have joined us for a Triola concert in years past, you may recall that instead of preparing a set program, we’ve enjoyed what we’ve come to think of as a live (and somewhat esoteric) iPod shuffle! Here’s how it works. At each of the tales, Triola will provide a list of tunes to choose from, representing an extraordinary range of genres — from Classical, Baroque, and Romantic, to show tunes, the Beatles, jigs and reels, Jazz, and much more. And then … well… the iPod shuffle begins! They will go from table to table and let the music unfold from there.
Who is Triola?
Triola is a group of highly skilled professional musicians — principal players of the Kingston Symphony and Queen’s University faculty members. They have trained at the Universities of Yale, Queen’s, Toronto, and at le Conservatoire de Montréal. Their individual performing credits include CBC broadcasts, work in the National Arts Centre, the Winnipeg, Ottawa, Peterborough, Mississauga, and Quinte Orchestras, commercial recordings, solo and chamber work in Canada, the United States, and Europe. They also perform as a quartet, “Quartessence” or as a string duo, “Duetta.” What a delight to have them perform again at Wintergreen!
Purchase tickets here: $50 + HST includes a scrumptious evening meal and the concert to follow. If you’re reluctant to drive home after such a fine evening, we offer rooms in the lodge, with a full gourmet breakfast for $80 per person or $130 per couple + HST.
