Join us for your alternative practicum placement in the heart of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere.

Help plan the 2024 Land Art BioBlitz.

Spring LABB 2024 will take place May 28 to June 1.

Responsibilities:

●      Develop and/or refine educational resources for students to use during the Four Season Land Art BioBlitz

●      Develop a Land Art Workshop (optional)

●      Develop a Guided Hike Workshop (optional)

●      Deliver Workshops and Hikes with participants at Wintergreen (optional)

●      Assist with trail maintenance (shared responsibility)

●      Promote the event on local websites, social media, local news outlets (shared responsibility)

●      Assist with additional event planning tasks (optional)

You are:

●      Interested in outdoor education, natural history, the arts, and/or event planning

●      Able to occasionally travel to Wintergreen Studios (we can help with carpooling arrangements)

●      Someone who thrives in a vibrant community setting

●      Comfortable being outside in a wilderness setting, on-site at Wintergreen Studios

●      Self-motivated and able to work off-site, independently when not at Wintergreen

You will work with:

●      Luke Howie, Program Director. While Luke is the primary contact for alt prac teacher candidates, you will also work closely with Monica Capovilla, Executive Director and Rena Upitis, Founding Director

●      Two or three other alt prac teacher candidates

●      Students and youth

●      Members of the general public

●      People with expertise in particular fields (e.g., plant and bird identification, etc.)

 

We are planning to host all 2024 Land Art BioBlitz events entirely in person. Some of the winter events will take place during the alt prac dates. If you are available during our BioBlitz (May 28 -June 1, 2024), we also invite you to run educational workshops of your own.

By completing your Alternative Practicum at Wintergreen Studios, you’ll get a chance to visit our off-grid wilderness retreat centre and explore the 200 acres of land as you help us prepare for the 2024 Land Art BioBlitz events.
